    • Project Description:
    Linguistically, neology helps better understand the vocabulary of a language and its evolution, while outside of linguistics, it reveals information about linguistic communities and their representations. The network's challenging goals are: 1) define the basic terminology of neology with a multilingual digital glossary; 2) adapt methods and digital tools to identify and analyze lexical innovation; 3) carry out comparative studies on lexical innovation in European languages, focusing on borrowings; 4) train translators, editors, journalists, and teachers in neology through a protocol adaptable to all European languages. Conferences and training sessions are also planned to achieve these objectives.

  2. 2024- (ongoing) Digital Bibliography and Library of Lexicography (DB2L) Project

    Following the international project "Digital Lexicography in China and Europe: Status Quo and Future Directions" and the 9th International PL<L Conference (https://plltl2024.sciencesconf.org/), we are launching a project aimed at collecting and integrating a bibliography and corpus on Chinese-foreign language (meta)lexicography: Digital Bibliography & Library of Lexicography.
    • Objective :
    The Digital Bibliography and Library of Lexicography (DB2L) Project: Chinese-Foreign Languages aims to develop an online bibliography dedicated to contemporary lexicography and metalexicography, by providing manually validated publication metadata and integrating Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools to enhance information access. This metadata will be merged with structured data (TEI-XML or BibTeX) via Python to enrich DB2L and facilitate citation indexing. Publications in PDF or HTML formats will be cleaned and converted into plain text, then isolated and lemmatized using tools like TreeTagger in TXM and others developed by IMS to extract thematic terms and bibliographic references. Specific tools for processing Chinese, such as Thulac for segmentation and HanLP for syntactic analysis and named entity extraction, will also be integrated, along with other tools like SpaCy, NLTK, and Jieba. GROBID will be used to extract and structure references, thus creating a citation network and facilitating the visualization of relationships between publications. Finally, the project aims to evolve into a collaborative platform (PHP + MySQL) to enrich the bibliography and evaluate metadata, with an API access to allow researchers to easily download bibliographic records from reference management tools like EndNote, Mendeley, and Zotero.

    Project Description: The FRAPéOR (French of Allophones Spoken in Orléans) project aims to establish a remediation platform focused on the pronunciation of French among allophone speakers living permanently in Orléans or simply passing through. Giving allophones a voice allows us to observe their mistakes and propose tailored remediation based on the verbo-tonal method, a modern approach that has proven effective in recent years, originating from applications and research in acoustic phonetics. This project relies on the data from the FRAPéOR corpus (part of which is collected and processed).
    Role: 20% of the work: NLP, TICE, automatic corpus processing, FLE didactics, and coordination with FLE teachers in China.

    Objectives: The main goal of this project is to highlight the diversity of languages taught at INALCO and create synergy between the researchers of the PLIDAM team (EA 4514), particularly focusing on axes 3 (Lexicon and translation: what didactics?), 4 (Literature and culture in language didactics), and 5 (Development and practice of digital tools). Based on the translation or re-translation of a classic text of French literature, "The Fairies" by Charles Perrault (1697), into more or less widely spread languages or varieties of languages, the project will consist of several successive parts:
    Database development: use of Traduxio (a digital environment for collaborative and multilingual translation of cultural texts)
    Role:
    1) Literary translation
    Chinese linguistics supervisor: supervision of a group of students (UPJV, UGA, LRU, Skema), organization of translation methodology sessions (grammar, lexicon, etc.), creation of a collaborative final version.
    2) Public multilingual reading
    On September 30, 2022, in celebration of International Translation Day, a series of multilingual readings will be organized with students, in a public garden in Paris or in a theater room.
    3) Conference
    The experiences will be shared during a conference that could take place on March 23 and 24, 2023, to discuss the issues of literary translation in education and to cross perspectives on the linguistic, cultural, stylistic, and pragmatic aspects of the work done.
    4) TICE: Moodle+ page
    Text exploration and translation, proposing activities for each language for didactic purposes using the Moodle platform. / Uploading an oral version of the tale (audio files) / Recording with one or more voices.
